My husband, Tracy, joined me. He takes better pictures, so I now have more material for my postcards.
This rally happened a few days after the tariffs “liberation day.” ICE is arresting people off the streets and sending them to foreign gulags. And DOGE is dismantling our federal government. But thousands of people showed up, and they came from all walks of life, not just those directly harmed by the administration. Former Washington Governor Jay Inslee spoke, along with Representative Pramila Jayapal. Listening to them and being together with so many people made Tracy and me feel we’re definitely not alone in our worries about our democracy.
Fun fact: When I wrote my legal thriller Extreme Vetting, I worried that I had portrayed ICE too harshly. Yeah… I shouldn’t have worried about that.
